ARTS + ARCHITECTURE
An international education travel program focused on the allied arts of architecture, drawing, painting, and sculpture. This travel and studio intensive program recognizes the long-standing tradition and value of the physical experience of travel and drawing research as an integral part of a designer’s education.
In short, we call it Drawing Inspiration.
REGISTRATION /
September 21-25th 2026 the Arts + Architecture Drawing Inspiration Workshop / Venice is $3,500 USD.
50% due upon registration and 50% due May 1st, 2026.
The workshop will include instruction in topics related to traditions of architecture including hand-drawing, perspective studies, architectural geometry, proportion, history, innovations, and materials, and methods. We will apply lessons in drawing and watercolor sketches in the rich context of Venice. We will also will be visiting inspirational buildings and Museums accompanied by a Renaissance Art Historian based in Italy
Payment of the workshop includes the Workshop, scheduled Museum Visits, a Welcome cocktail gathering, and a private palazzo candlelight dinner on Grand Canal. We will also be providing a gift box of essential materials for drawing and watercolor, and will send out a list of supplies provided and alternative supplies should you desire to bring your favorite materials or drawing instruments.

VENICE / ITINERARY
The workshop will include instruction in topics related to the traditions of watercolor of architectural scenes, including hand-drawing, perspective studies, architectural geometry, proportion, history, innovations, and materials, and methods. We will apply lessons in drawing and watercolor sketches in the rich context of Venice. We will also will be visiting inspirational buildings and Museums accompanied by a Renaissance Art Historian based in Italy. We will be inspired by Architectural masterpieces of Renaissance architect Andrea Palladio to the 20th-century creations of modern master Carlo Scarpa. Master painters Giorgione, Titian, Veronese, Tintoretto, Bellini, and Carpaccio defined the Venetian style and can still be viewed throughout the city.
VENICE / ITINERARY HIGHLIGHTS
Welcome reception and candelight dinner with a Venice legend, Mimi Todhunter, at her exquisite 15th-century Palazzo on the Grand Canal.
Visit to the Gallerie della Accademia di Venezia, the most important state-run museum in Venice, to admire the masterpieces of Bellini, Carpaccio, Giorgione, Titian, and Veronese.
Private visit to Squero di San Trovaso, the last gondola-making factory in Venice.
Visit to the Basilica di Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari, the burial place of Titian, Canova, and many Venetian Doges.
Visit to San Giorgio Maggiore, 16th-century Benedictine church designed by Andrea Palladio, and built between 1566 and 1610.
Daily Sketching and Watercolor Painting. Instruction in topics related to traditions of watercolor of architecturual scenes, including hand-drawing, perspective studies, architectural geometry, proportion, history, innovations, and materials, and methods.

ARRIVAL / DEPARTURE
We recommended arriving at least 24-48 hours before the workshop to allow time to adjust to the time zone. We recommend the earliest departure of the morning after the day.
ACCOMMODATIONS / AIRFARE / TRANSPORTATION
Workshop prices do not include accommodations, airfare, or local transportation to or from the workshop locations.

CELLPHONES /
Participants in the workshops are required to have a functioning international cell phone while attending the workshop. We will be communicating via text or WhatsApp as a group during the workshop. Please contact your service provider before travel.
CANCELLATION / REFUNDS
Refunds are not available once a course reaches its minimum number of participants. We pre-purchase materials, buy museum tickets; therefore, we cannot provide refunds. If a course does not meet its minimum number of registrations, you will receive a full refund.
We reserve the right to cancel any workshop due to insufficient registration. Participants will be notified of cancellations by the registration deadline. A full refund will be made in the case of cancellation.

It is the sole responsibility of the workshop participant to obtain the travel documents necessary to attend the workshops.
LIABILITY /
The workshop owners and consultants shall not be liable for any loss, damage, or injury suffered by the workshop participants. We accept no responsibility for any loss or damage you may suffer during the period of your course due to accident, illness, bodily injury, or loss of equipment, of belongings, or from any other case. We recommend wearing suitable clothes and footwear.

Recommend that you obtain Traveler's Insurance to protect your investment and to cover emergency medical expenses. You should seek insurance that will cover the following: It is solely the responsibility of the workshop participants to obtain travel and health insurance while enrolled, if desired.

A+A reserves the right to use any photographs or videos taken at any event without the expressed written permission. A+A may use the photographs or videos in publications, including but not limited to: advertisements, social media, brochures, invitations, books, newspapers, magazines, television, websites, newsletters, emails, etc. To ensure the privacy of individuals, images will not be identified using full names or personal identifying information without written approval from the photographed subject, parent, or legal guardian. The photography policy includes a release, defend, hold harmless, and indemnify A+A from any claims involving the use of your picture or likeness. A person attending a workshop who does not wish to have their image recorded for distribution should make their wishes known to A+A in writing of his/her intentions.
